I am responding to the public consultation on Australia’s Digital Identity legislation -
As an Australian citizen and taxpayer, I do not agree or consent to this Digital Identity legislation and I feel I must speak up whilst I still have a voice and a vote.
This Digital Identity legislation is already at stage 3 of the legislative process! I am shocked and angry at the lack of public awareness of the existence of this legislation that is being instigated without a public referendum. This is totally unconstitutional and unacceptable and is just another example of the State and Federal Governments overreach and invasive changes that are happening in this once democratic, free, and lucky country, Australia.
I believe this Digital Identity legislation will be extremely restrictive and invasive through digital control over our personal and legal rights to privacy. It can also be used for what the Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced, “to restrict members of our communities from participating in the economy.” That means to disallow a person entry into an establishment for the procurement of goods (for example, groceries) and services (for example, going to the doctor) and restrict access to our money at the ‘flick of a button’.
I believe this digital identity will obliterate our democratic western lifestyle by means of digitalised control and will be a massive step towards the ‘social credit system’ currently being used in China.
We have a suitable means of identification in the forms of an Australian Drivers Licence, Birth Certificate and Passport. Our forefathers died for the freedoms that we enjoy today, and I believe we as a nation we should honour their lives lost and reconnect with Common Law that is guided by our Christian God’s law.
