Sea stars are invertebrate animals that belong to the phylum Echinoderms, and the class Asteroidea. Sea stars are radially symmetrical animals and generally have five or more arms. Sea stars do not have skeletons capable of assisting movement. Their skeleton serves as protection. They move by using the water vascular system. They depend on tube feet located on the ventral side of the star snake's arms, which function for locomotion and aid in feeding. Sea stars are invertebrates that move freely using their tube feet, crawling along the sea floor at a speed low enough for most species.
