Continuing in our study of the Lake of Fire, Pastor Cortes focus's in on the confusing translation stating souls in the LOF will endure "everlasting destruction". Do they?

Below are the verses that were reviewed in last night's teaching. The problem with many translations is the translators themselves. Too often, they have preconceived understandings embedded in their minds before the text is translated. Such as:

2nd Thessalonians 1:9. It should read, ‘These will pay the penalty in the age or eon of loss from the face of the Lord and the glory of his strength’. The word destruction (olethros) has been mistranslated. A better translation Is loss or ruination.

Another Greek word we looked at was apoleian, derived from Apollumi, which means to sever but not imply annihilation but a total loss. Some examples are found in first Timothy 6:9, Luke 15:32, and John 3:16. The incorrect translation is died- perished in destruction. A better translation Is someone to be completely severed-cut off. What could or what should have been. It does not mean none existing. Once the correct definitions are applied, it changes our understanding of the scriptures. It is utterly amazing the extent of God’s grace.
