Sea Turtle - Big Island

Of all the animals in Hawaii, few are as eye-catching as turtles. Known to ancient Hawaiians as Honu, sea turtles inhabit the shores of every island in the state, from bustling Oahu to distant Midway Atoll. They are most commonly found in shallow coastal waters, or washed up along shorelines in the afternoon sun.
