Triumph in Christ - 2. Cor. 2
2
The apostle Paul looks at the Victory Parades which were quite common in the Roman Empire. Whenever a people was conquered the victorious legion would march into the city back home celebrating their victory with incense and great fanfare. Prisoners of war of the conquered people would be part of the parade. Some were to be killed at the end of the parade and other were set free and allowed to go home as free citizens. Paul uses this as an analogy for the Gospel. Some people get a scent of their freedom others sense their own condemnation.
