How God Corrects and Disciplines Us

For most of my life, I used to believe punishment was the key to change and to do the right thing - but it never worked. I never got the results I wanted, as much as I tried. When I turned to Jesus and found out God doesn't punish even though He corrects us, I was surprised.

Punishment is always about paying a debt - it is not a tool to bring change into the future. So God doesn't correct or discipline us by punishing us - but He does correct and does discipline us. In fact, that's literally the goal and the purpose and the entirety of our lives, as Jesus' disciples: being corrected and disciplined by God by replacing the enemy's lies with the Truth of God's Word.

The most important relationship in our lives is our relationship with God. The way we relate to Him is essential to everything else, that’s why the enemy works overtime to distort His Word to us so that we misunderstand who God is and relate to Him based on the enemy’s lies, and not the Truth of God’s Word!

We need to understand disassociate God from our sinful nature and see Him the Way He wants us to - based on His Word to us! We need to understand that God does not chastise us the way we think He does, but that His Discipline and Correction are very different than what we know from other people what discipline and correction is!
