Max Roach a lot of the times goes unnoticed as one of the most influential and melodic drummers and musicians in the Jazz community. Influential in American musical history. While still in high school he would perform in the major jazz night clubs of the time performing with some of the biggest name in the jazz industry. Max had developed his musical chops at a young age his mother taking great care to allow him to practice in their 2 bedroom apartment in Harlem .
His solos were always strong and melodic not to forget he was a practitioner of dynamic drumming getting down low and still sizzling then explode in volume and then down to a wisper I miss that in todays drumming style.
