7 Ways To Cut Sugar From Your Diet
Sugar is the generic name for sweet-tasting, soluble carbohydrates, many of which are used in food. Simple sugars, also called monosaccharides, include glucose, fructose, and galactose. Compound sugars, also called disaccharides or double sugars, are molecules made of two monosaccharides joined by a glycosidic bond.
Natural sugars are found in fruit as fructose and in dairy products, such as milk and cheese, as lactose. On the other hand, refined sugar comes from sugar cane or sugar beets, which are processed to extract the sugar.
Basically, sugar is everywhere! Sugar is in in the cereals, bread, condiments and snacks in our kitchen pantries. It’s in the beverages we drink. It’s in our restaurant meals.
And it’s contributing to increased rates of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Cutting sugar in your diet is a surefire way to improve your overall health.
