One of the reasons for these is to tell us how to recognize the Messiah and validate the true one, namely Jesus Christ of Nazareth. For example the Messiah had to have certain credentials. One qualifier is He had to be born in a certain place - Bethlehem. As you go through these impostors could be ruled out one by one
