Crypto Will Never Die, Now, 3735

Good evening, I’m still reporting on crypto.

So for those of you who have ignored the crypto movement, thinking – or in some cases hoping – that it would simply go away, it’s not.

The news this week cast crypto in stone. Now, it will never die.

Back in 2019, VISA, the largest credit card provider in the world, finally gave up trying to block bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies from becoming money by opening its gates to those who want to exchange cryptocurrencies for U.S. dollars – or visa versa – and other sovereign national currencies as of Oct. 1, 2020, and they just announced last year’s total transactions across their network amounted to $3.5 billion USD.

That’s nothing compared to the rest of their business, but nothing to sneeze at, either. So, the payment giant has opened a cryptocurrency financial advisor arm in order to help other companies provide payment processing for crypto.

And they have crowned a crypto king to manage this new initiative in the European sector, named Nikola Plecas. According to Mr. Plecas:

“Crypto for us is a huge new vertical and growth opportunity. And we will be continuing to focus on growing this business moving forward.”

Earlier this year, VISA announced that it would endeavor to become the leading crypto payment processor in the world. In fact, they are so serious that they are even venturing into the NFT world.

Now, NFTs is where yours truly draws the line in learning one more thing about crypto. So there is nothing I can say about what an NFT is or does because my gray matter is now shrinking faster than the incoming flow of information as it is.

Suffice it to say that the NFT world is about buying and selling things that most people would consider to be one full order of magnitude more ephemeral than anything else in the crypto world.

It’s like my generation trying to imagine the 4th dimension.

So you are going to have to put on your thinking caps and learn crypto basics or else in the not-so-distant future, your 12-year-old is going to become the family banker because now, crypto is officially here to stay.
