Are Electric Motorcycles Like LiveWire Our Future? HOG vs LVW Stock

Harley-Davidson (HOG) is rumbling higher after announcing that its recently formed electric motorcycle division, LiveWire, will be merging with blank check company AEA-Bridges Impact Corp. (IMPX). The deal, which will net HOG $545 mln in proceeds, accomplishes the company's stated goal of separating its electric vehicle (EV) division from its traditional combustion business. This split will allow LiveWire to explicitly focus on its own growth strategy, while enabling HOG to continue to capitalize on that growth by retaining a 74% equity in interest in the new EV entity. When the transaction closes, IMPX shareholders will own ~17% of LiveWire, which is expected to begin trading on the NYSE under the symbol "LVW" in 1H22.
