Piper Comanche 250 Go Around at Janesville Wisconsin

Filmed Mar19 - Went up to Janesville Wisconsin to eat lunch at their Airport cafe (great food fyi). On the 1st attempted landing I had to execute my 1st ever...for real...full go around. I have done a go around before but is was from a much, much higher point, while on final into Rochelle, IL when a group of sky divers were coming down over the approach end of runway. One does not want to hit a meat bomb. :-)

Today I was low, slow, in the flare at a high angle of attack and we just got a gust of wind which boosted the plane 15-20 feet up in the air. In short, I simply did not have enough energy left to make it work, so I did a go around by pouring the power on, pushing forward on the yoke to lessen the angle of attack and climbing out. I will say, the forward pressure needed was more then I was expecting.

Sorry she pointed the camera down during part of it. I think I scared her when I said...Well this is not going to work and put the power on. She looked over at me and asked whats wrong. :-)

As I told her...Well we don't have to land until we run out of gas and that was not going to be a good landing.
