Golden eagles are threatened by environmental damage, which leads to their population reduction. Golden eagles are mistreated, electrocuted by electric wires, and also caught in traps meant to trap coyotes or other animals. The main threats to their population also include poisoning and egg hunting, although this species is legally protected. Another threat is commercial tree planting which significantly disturbs their habitat.
