The Medical Magic Wand

Starting in the nineteenth century, the notion that germs are the singular cause of many diseases has taken root and become an unquestioned faith of modern medicine. Germs must be defeated and eliminated to save humanity.

The answer to stopping these sicknesses and high death rates from these invisible killers was to subject people to them in a controlled setting, thus protecting them in the future. From this belief, the idea of vaccination was born. Expose the person early to weakened germs and defend the person in the future. A simple equation. Germs = Disease = Vaccine.

Today, we are following the same formula, with many believing that this is the only real course of action. Over the last year, this strategy has been introduced with the notion of not only protecting the individual but also as the way to stop the germ cold in its tracks.
