When Mortals Saunter

When I was younger, I had a great fear of death. In my resting thoughts, I found an obsessive fear. Yet, as I grew older, I learned to accept the fear, the haunting spirits, the pains, and the ultimate transience and dissolution. There is some comfort in philosophical meandering. Perhaps we don't really die because we were never born - We are but avatars, who have forgotten who we really are. Perhaps we face eternal paradise or silent oblivion. Perhaps! Perhaps!

I am now getting old, if not old, surely approaching the point. I always knew that I would get old. I just thought that it would take a bit longer. Now, my resting concern is not that I will someday die. I fear that I have not yet lived enough. I have an unsatisfied hunger to see more of this world, to roam far and wide in search of adventure. I have learned that there is adventure to be had for everyone, if only they seek it out and reach for it.

Let us never lose our curiosity for our mortal condition. Let our sense of wonder and adventure never wane, until at last we face our final adventure into the eternal. Onward, mortals! Let us saunter!
