Now, no one will take the mark of the beast without being well informed and having clearly decided against the gospel. They’ll know that what they're doing is wrong, but they’ll do it for the sake of survival. Let me make a very profound point here, Jesus said, if a man loves his life he will lose it, but if a man hates his life he will save it. You see, the natural behavior of the carnal nature is to do whatever it takes to save self. That’s why self-defense is permitted by God. He allows us to exercise and use self-defense. Many people, in an effort to save themselves, we'll prostitute themselves willingly; do wrong willingly; violate their conscience willingly; go against what they know is right in order to save themselves. That’s really is what this test is all about. Those who are born again—those who understand and love the Lord, and understand something about him, and those who have been sealed—will not have the need for self-defense.
