God has a plan and you want to make sure that you are not found resisting and fighting against God. Of course, people who don't know God and don’t understand his word will take matters into their own hands and find themselves on the wrong side of the fight. So we need to understand this last vision given to Daniel. It’s about a series of wars that goes back between the North and the South, and the point is that God's people are caught between these two great opposing armies. This was true in AD 70 and it will be true at the end of the age as well.

During the Great Tribulation the people of God will be caught between two great forces—two great tectonic plates. During the Great Tribulation there will be two groups of wicked people: the first group I call the religious wicked. These are people who support the devil. These are people who believe that he is god. These are people who have never been honest of heart about religion. For them, religion is something that is manipulated for their own evil and carnal desires. This group will be easily deceived when the devil shows up masquerading as God because of all the miracles and signs and wonders he can perform. The religious wicked, like the Pharisees in the days of Jesus, will buy right into this.
