True North Report Ep 1: KHD Jan 2022 Board Meeting

This episode highlights a discussion during the Kootenai Hospital District Board of Trustees' meeting January 4, 2022 about Kootenai Health hospital's Covid-19 shot mandate for all employees.

Although the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a mandate for all its providers, lawsuits were filed and two district courts stayed the enforcement while being litigated. The stay was appealed to SCOTUS, and their ruling to uphold the stay or not is pending as of January 12, 2022.

Kootenai Health had the option to also stay their shot mandate efforts or move forward independently of CMS. Kootenai Health's management chose to move forward at the beginning of December 2021.
