Leviathan

Throughout the Old Testament, we see a figure referred to as Leviathan. Many claim that this creature is an alligator or crocodile of some kind. But Scripture seems to deem this creature to be much greater than that. God even compares His own strength to that of Leviathan's in Job 41. So what is Leviathan?
