1Pe 2:1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

A trait is a characteristic that is passed from parent to child.

Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

1. Guile; deceitful cunning

Simply a lie to trick someone, a way to force our own agenda?

2. Hypocrisies; condition of a person pretending to be something he is not, especially in the area of morals or religion.

Every Christian is guilty of this at one time or another, we hate to admit we are struggling or that we failed.

Usually because other Christians will look down on us. We Christians love to look down on those who sin differently than we do?

3. Envies; a feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by someone else possessions, qualities, or luck.

Php 4:11-13 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. 12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

4. Evil; profoundly immoral and wicked.
