On June 13, 2021, The Hubble’s payload computer unexpectedly came to a halt.
The Hubble team attempted to bring the computer back online but with no success.
On July 15, the team performed 15 hours of spacecraft commanding and successfully completed the challenging and risky switch to backup hardware.They then successfully brought the science instruments back online.
By December 8, 2021, NASA had restored full science operations and was developing updates to make instruments more resilient to missing synchronization messages.
