SKI AREAS MAKING SNOWMAKING MORE WATER & ENERGY EFFICIENT, FOR THE ECONOMY

Ski area snow making became standard operating procedure long ago. With ski areas aiming to be more environmental and curb greenhouse gas emissions, and with the west being in a drought ski areas are looking to have their snowmaking be more efficient in both energy and water usage. Ski areas "make" snow for one reason only, economy. Most resorts in the U.S. east wouldn't open if they didn't "make" snow. In the west resort would open later and close earlier. So snowmaking is all about the economy.
