- Amos sheepbreeder, Uzziah - Isaiah starts in 6, God is going to judge many nations in the land,
- God continually reminds Israel that he delivered them from Egypt,
- 10 Also it was I who brought you up from the land of Egypt, And led you forty years through the wilderness,
- God's covenant love for his people, 2 “You only have I known of all the families of the earth; Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.”
- Psalm 14:1-4 David - 2 Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. 3 Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.
- The anguish of David's heart, The heart of David was not half way toward God,
- Proverbs 29:5 - 25 The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe.
- Are believers in your life fearing man, when it comes to the authorities, or even in evangelism etc...
- Revelation 3:1-22 - Jesus tells the Church to hold fast and repent,
- 5He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
- MacArthur's note: 3:16 Lukewarm. I.e., tepid. Nearby Hierapolis was famous for its hot springs, and Colosse for its cold, refreshing mountain stream. But Laodicea had dirty, tepid water that flowed for miles through an underground aqueduct. Visitors, unaccustomed to it, immediately spat it out. The church at Laodicea was neither cold, openly rejecting Christ, nor hot, filled with spiritual zeal. Instead, its members were Lukewarm, hypocrites professing to know Christ, but not truly belonging to Him (Matt. 7:21ff.). I will vomit you out of My mouth. Just like the tepid water of Laodicea, these self-deceived hypocrites sickened Christ.
