History is filled with surprise attacks such as Pearl Harbor and the Six-Day War. Many Christians act as though the spiritual war we are engaged in is some kind of surprise attack. Peter said, "Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you." (1 Peter 4:12).
