Dedicated to Phil Jefferson & Joel Burrows Originally released on The Bolshevik's "Resident Alien" LP circa 2000 Limited Release: 10 - 15 CD's First fully digital album The Bolsheviks returned to the studio in 1999 when Clint Sargent purchased a BR-8 recorder. While this would technically be the last Bolsheviks 'Album Release', the ground work for my solo band and eventually The Peasant Revolution band was being laid out at this juncture. Recordings would last over 2 years and 2 different recording studios. 'Mud' was a track about getting 'through it', and being relaxed & groovy when the stress gets to be too much. In the original version, Joel Burrows helped in the song construction and played drums. In this version, I decided to make it more of an acoustical tribute rather than the original (which was pretty heavy & 'sludgy'). By utilizing the talents of Mr. Talbott Guthrie on conga & percussion, I was able to get a nice, dynamic mesh with the acoustics. I don't know if it was fate's way of telling me, 'No, I ain't no spring chicken', but I heed the warning and decided to renew my lease on life. Part of this lease was writing a bunch of songs on guitar & piano. Within 8 weeks of surgery, most of the songs were written and guide tracks recorded. This title track was somewhat inspired by The Byrds cut, '8 Miles High'. In our efforts to create a David Gilmour-Stanley Kubrick universe, this song is sort of the launching pad of the journey. It was long decided "8 Weeks From Mars" would be a concept album about a man on a mission to the Red Planet. We eventually decided this could ultimately make a wonderful short film. They had this delusion that I was spoiled and given a lot more opportunity than them. So, as an older brother, this felt like an appropriate response. Aaron Overstreet added bass guitar and we dueled a bit on lead electrics as well (his is the harmonizer guitar). I told him we were looking for a T-Rex type of vibe.

Bush's war years. I guess I was trying to imagine the loneliness (emptiness?) that he might've been going through during some of his decision making (remember - this is still before the economy crashed on his way out the door otherwise I would've added a little more fuel to the fire). Musically, there was a bit of that Portland 90's style-thing going on especially in the 'Doo-Doo-Doo-Doo-Doo-Do-VooDoo' bridge, but I would blame JSun Atoms (of Daydream Machine & The Upside Down notoriety) for a lot of that influence over the years. Ultimately, I mostly played back up studio musician to the illustrious work of Bobby Caesar & Echo Narcissus on lead vocals!

Dodge 2008 : Key of F# minor) LINER NOTES: I first came up with the idea of the Peasant Revolution Band back in 1995 when I was a member of the AmeriCorp. I had no idea that when I was toying with this concept, the USA was going to become even more corporatized than it was back then. My premise with all of this is and always has been rather simple; Republican or Democrat, we’ve been watching America turn into a feudalistic nation of ‘Haves’ & ‘Have Nots’ - destruction of the middle class - whatever you want to call it. And despite what your political persuasion may be, this income inequality has soared to historic levels ever since the advent of ‘Reaganomics’ & ‘trickle-down theory’ (politicians across the spectrum have embraced this ideology). There’s definitely been a lot of other intangibles squeezed through that period, to be sure of; technological advancements, global communication, global warming & the freakin’ Internet to name a few. But this constant also remains; the Peasantry will always rise up against their feudal overlords once the inequality gets too great. Humans are very much like rubber bands when they respond to pressure - they'll only bend so far before they snap back or break. We at the Peasant Revolution Band embrace this reality - but we're also hoping to deliver a different kind of message. One of peaceful revolution focused on societal healing and global harmony through art and music rather than violent uprising. Unfortunately, it rarely works out that way. 'Poor Poor Poor' is kind of asking that age old question about the quality of life you lead versus the quantity of numbers you make and the "race to the bottom" treadmill you can find yourself getting stuck on. Stylistically for the video, I was kind of inspired by Nirvana's "In Bloom" among other things.
