Since When Does the US Have Two National Anthems?

This past week, the National Football League began its new season. On Thursday night, as part of the pre-game ceremonies, two anthems were performed – the Star-Spangled Banner and “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” known as the Black national anthem. According to the NFL, they want to continue to drive attention towards social justice. Is this the right approach?
