Remembrance Day is a chance to honour Britain’s war dead on the anniversary of the signing of the First World War Armistice in 1918

Remembrance Day is marked every year, and commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice which brought the First World War to an end.

As well as wearing poppies, it is traditionally marked by wreath-laying, memorial ceremonies and periods of silent reflection around the UK.

Armistice Day is marked by all nations of the Commonwealth, while many other countries mark the anniversary as a day of memorial.
