The Legal Implications of Enacting Current Mandates for Health Professionals

Recorded Wednesday 2nd Feb 2022 - Sharn Hobill has a Bachelor of Arts in Human Rights and Ethics, a Bachelor of Laws with honours, and a Masters of Laws in Governance. She is currently completing her Doctorate in Law looking at the intersection between public health and diet-related illness. She has expertise in negligence law after being admitted to practice in 2008 and having largely worked as an Associate within the national medical negligence department at Maurice Blackburn Lawyers where she was in charge of a large group action involving a controversial novel medical procedure amongst a varied and diverse case load. She has extensive teaching experience at universities including the Sunshine Coast University and Bond University. Her teaching areas have spanned across faculties and relevantly include, foundations of law, health law, ethics, negligence, corporate law, international law and inter-disciplinary areas involving public health. She writes and updates the Queensland Personal Injuries Practice Manual for LexisNexis a large legal online database and subscription service for legal practitioners. She also currently has a consultancy in governance and a contract in compliance and risk with a not for profit care organisation. She has considered the current national and international legal legislative changes, public policies and mandates from many different legal angles. She hopes to bring her practical experience and knowledge of legal systems, processes and risks to help analyse and discuss any current concerns you may be experiencing in relation to your practice during this controversial time.
