What is #Catastrophizing?

It's portraying a non-catastrophe event as catastrophic by:
1) Wildly overstating its negative side-effects.
2) Ignoring our ability to master--neutralize or overwhelm--those side-effects.
While this clip refers to climate change you could just as easily apply it to Covid or to numerous other daily challenges of life.
The technique is used by bureaucrats and the media to create a state of fear to control the masses, thus justifying their overpaid and unnecessary roles.
True leaders should inspire the hopes and dreams of people, not play on their fears and anxieties.
