Why are the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems of your body necessary when thinking about strength training. Are you overtraining and not giving your body enough time to respond and change after the stimulation you've induced via exercise?
Learn to be really clinical in your approach to exercise: tracking your metrics (time under load, repetitions, settings, weight) and having someone really watch your form. Your body doesn't care if you've done another repetition or added more weight - your body only cares about what's happening to it.
