Frances Widdowson was fired as a professor at Mount Royal University for questioning 'woke' ideas

Frances Widdowson had been a (tenured) associate professor at Mount Royal University in the department of economics, justice, and policy studies since 2008. She was fired last month after a years-long campaign against her, beginning with her organization of a debate between myself and a trans activist, addressing the question of whether trans activism negatively impacts women's rights. Frances also has levied criticisms against what she calls "the Indigenization of the university," "anti-racism training" (and the impact of BLM activism on the university, and the modern framing of residential schools. I spoke with her in January after she'd been fired about what happened and about her perspectives on these issues.

Frances is a member of The Rational Space Network and is on The Society for Academic Freedom and Scholarship Board of Directors.
