The Beatles played their first gig at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, England. They were paid 10 pounds for their performance.
George Harrison, the guitarist of The Beatles, was the driving force behind the concert for Bangladesh. He was also one of the most influential musicians of his generation.
The Concert For Bangladesh was a benefit concert that took place on August 1st 1971 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Concert For Bangladesh marked the first time that George Harrison had played guitar in public since 1966. It raised international awareness and over $10 million for UNICEF to help refugees from East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).
The concerts featured performances by many famous artists including: Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr and Ravi Shankar.
The Cavern Club was a music venue in Liverpool, England.
The Beatles played at the club 292 times from 1961 to 1963. They played their last concert at the club on August 3, 1963. The Beatles were one of the most popular bands in the world and they had an enormous influence on pop culture and music.
