Luke 8:1-15 “Heart Check”

Jesus tells His disciples that it was given for them to understand the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven.
In Marks gospel Jesus says this about this parable:
And He said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables? (Mark 4:13)
This parable is the key to understanding the rest.
And as we go through this parable you will discover that the key to understanding the parables is your heart…
What is the condition of your heart…this parable conducts a heart test to show us exactly where our hearts are in our relationship with Jesus?
To those whose hearts are far from Jesus…when they read a parable, they will see the meaning…but they will not understand the spiritual impact of the meaning.
In other words, to those who receive the message of truth…the truth will be revealed…
And to those who reject the message of truth…the truth will be concealed.
So, Jesus lists four types of heart conditions…and I will tell you that although these heart conditions can refer to people’s response to the message of the gospel…
It can also be a list of the condition of the hearts of a person who claims to be a believer.
