The J6 committee, when subpoenaing Trump legal advisors, Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell and Boris Epshteyn, in addition to Ellis, carefully crafted their press release to make it appear that the mere suggestion that fraud happened during an election is a criminal act, even though no such law exists.“The four individuals we’ve subpoenaed today advanced unsupported theories about election fraud, pushed efforts to overturn the election results, or were in direct contact with the former President about attempts to stop the counting of electoral votes,” said J6 chair Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., about the subpoenas.Ellis said that such a characterization by not just liberals, but also by the mainstream media is “baseless” and “totally false” and hinted that the documents might come back to haunt the committee.Indeed, former House Republican Speaker Newt Gingrich warned that the same weapons that the liberals are using to attack the former president and other political opponents could be used against the members of the J6 committee and those misusing laws for partisan political purposes.
