The Midnight Rider Takes Amtrak

Before we get started it's not "New Or-leeens." It's "Nawlins." To the untrained Northern ear, it's easy to go with the wrong pronunciation as Arlo Guthrie did but now you know... so Greg Allman leads off with his solo version of Midnight Rider and then we slide into the train they still call The City of New Orleans except now it's not Illinois Central morning rail anymore. The Illinois Central is gone but Amtrak picked up the train and the name. And there you have today's Segue City Special.

Segue City will be a recurring short-form programming element of "The Big Kahuna" - one of GET's developmental Internet Radio formats created by Dain Schult. It will also be expanded as a part of that format and finally evolve into a full, long-form programming element on its own. It’s all a part of GET’s radio division – American Internet & Radio (“AIR”).

The feature will be available for integration into other AIR Classic Rock terrestrial stations in the future as well. It revives the art of mixing two songs together in a seamless pattern where it is tough to tell where the first song ended and the second one began. Sometimes the segues may also revolve around thematic ideas like matching or similar song titles. We'll try anything because no two Segue City Specials will ever be exactly the same...
