The Mattoon Gas Attacks

In the 1940's, the town of Mattoon, Illinois was tormented by sudden and random "gas attacks" that made townsfolk pukey and paralyzed for over an hour, then fully recover, with no trace of the pungent perpetrator. Local police and the FBI claimed it was mass hysteria. Maybe it was government tests. This one remains unsolved.
