Paislee Shultis, Missing 4-Year Old Since 2019, Found In Basement, Under the Steps

Paislee Shultis, who was abducted from a Court appointed guardian in 2019 at the age of 4 was found alive and well at her biological grandfather's home in the care of her biological parents as well. The Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Singara of upstate New York was the one who spotted the small compartment that was used to house the hiding child and her mother, Kimberly Cooper, under the stairs after being tipped off by an anonymous source. Shultis' father and grandfather, Kirk Jr. and Kirk Sr. are charged with one felony count of custodial interference and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child each, and Cooper with custodial interference and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.

Something about this story doesn't add up. Most of the pertinent information, like how the parents originally lost custody of Paislee, is sealed in court documents. This is likely a complex case with many moving parts. That or the adults involved are monsters. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt, based on the available information.
