Math in real life

I went walking on a loop trail that's about a mile and a half. Which was our PE for the day. It's right on the water and we got to see some turtles hanging out and enjoying the warmer weather. I used this opportunity to incorporate some math! We counted the turtles as we seen them, a total of 32. We also did a simple addition problem of 5+4=9. It was all natural and not forced. I love natural learning when it happens! Some would say this is an unschooling approach. Which we do occasionally, I just can't commit to it full time.
