Gen X Apathy and Fixing Our Neglectful Mess

This is a call to Gen Xers out there: We may have thought patriotism and pride in our communities/country was lame or even wrong (especially in the wake of our Boomer parents). But apathy has left a pretty big mess in our country. We need to start somewhere, so we get involved at the local level. Baby steps. I'm going to start attending school board meetings in good faith, even though my children will likely be getting their education elsewhere. I will also be more active in concerns around property rights here locally.

The past two years have been a wake-up call to a lot of us. In a way, I am actually happy that the curtain has been pulled back on how corrupt almost every institution is, and now many of us are seeing it. Even if we disagree with the mere existence of government, we need to get involved. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, as the saying goes.
