Time… Some people think we all have the same 24 hours every single day. If that’s true, why do some people accomplish so much while others wallow away their time?

Perhaps it’s not how much time we have to spend, but rather how we spend our time.
To use just one example, the experts say we adults average an hour a day all alone in our cars. So how do you spend that time? Do you listen to the radio? Perhaps the news, sports talk radio or political talk radio?

None of this is bad, but if you don’t mind my asking, how has this radio time improved your mind or your relationships with others? Has the news made you a smarter and better person, or has it made you less trusting and more fearful? Has knowing next week’s game predictions helped you to be a better husband? Has the continued sharpening of your political view improved your abilities at your work?

You might argue that this radio time has been relaxing or entertaining for you, and after all, you deserve to relax during your commuting time. Perhaps you are right and really do deserve to spend your time relaxing. After all, the Bible says our lives are just a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Jms4:14

On the other hand, considering this misty brevity of life, you might try an experiment involving your most important relationships…

What if for next week – you deliberately decided to keep the radio off.

Imagine if you spent that silent time talking with God? What if you simply prayed, “Dear Jesus, please bless and help me to bless everyone who comes into my mind.” And then walk through your memory of everyone you know.

Your own family, your relatives, friends, your boss, co-workers, neighbors, people from your past – the list goes on, and all need prayers and favor. We have so little time. Our lives are but a mist. How are you using yours?
