Navy Chaplin and Fmr RI State Rep. running for Congress to Help Bring Change to DC Bob Lancia

Public service has become more about service of self than service to others. I am a retired Navy Chaplain who is 100% disabled. During my time serving with the Navy, Coast Guard, and Marines, I was repeatedly reminded that service to others, and self-sacrifice, are the greatest achievements a person can accomplish. I served two terms in the Rhode Island House of Representatives. During my time in the House I worked in a bipartisan manner to successfully reduce beach fees and open beach access to all, a sex offender bill passed that would benefit our school systems and protect our children, and ensure state funding supported 911 and not the General Fund. I also fought to make the government transparent and accountable by introducing legislation that would have created the Office of Inspector General to root out waste, fraud and abuse, zero-based budgeting, line item veto, and voter initiatives. My wife Maryann and I remain active in the community as we personally believe that public service never ends. Supporting local organizations requires both financial and personal commitment and we are humbled with the opportunity to provide both. It has been our pleasure to work with the state’s most vulnerable, volunteering to fill backpacks for the annual Back to School celebration, participating in events that support school opportunity for all students like Latino Dollars for Scholars, and hosting a holiday event that collects shoes and socks for the homeless. We have too many career politicians in Washington. It is time we elect someone who has the courage to push back and stand up for the average citizen. It is time we elect someone who cares.
