Cellular Communicators That Work With a Honeywell VISTA 20P

The VISTA 20P can use a cellular communicator to connect with the Resideo AlarmNet servers and Total Connect 2.0. A compatible alarm monitoring plan is required.

There are two (2) main ways that a VISTA 20P can connect with AlarmNet360 for monitoring service. These are through an IP network and through cellular communication. Cellular is generally more reliable, as cellular outages are much less common than internet outages. In fact, cellular monitoring is typically seen as the best communication path for a security system. The Honeywell VISTA 20P has a few different cellular communication options available.

When choosing a cellular communicator for a VISTA 20P, you will want to make sure you select a model that can connect with an LTE cellular network. An LTE network will provide the fastest speeds and the best reliability. Additionally, cellular service providers like AT&T and Verizon have repeatedly stated that they plan to keep their LTE networks running well into the very distant future. Older networks like the AT&T 3G Network and the Verizon CDMA Network are in the process of being shut down. As a result, you can no longer activate a communicator for use on those networks. Going with LTE is your best option.

Each cellular communicator is associated with a different cellular service provider. You should go with whichever carrier provides the best service in the area where the system will be used, regardless of which carrier you use for your mobile phone. Most cellular communicators for the VISTA 20P use either AT&T LTE or Verizon LTE. The cost of your monitoring service will not be affected by which carrier you choose. Remember that you must choose a monitoring plan that includes cellular communication, such as the Alarm Grid Gold Plan.
