Pairing the Honeywell T6 Pro Thermostat with a Residio Lyric Controller
Note: When including the T6 Pro with the Lyric, you need to remember to press the "Select" button at the bottom of the T6 when the device reads "Set Controller to Inclusion Mode". In the video, Michael does not do this, and the button was pressed off-screen. You can see this at 3:25 in the video. Just make sure you press the "Select" button to finish putting the T6 into its inclusion mode so that you can successfully pair the device with the Lyric System.
In this video, Michael shows users how to pair the Honeywell T6 Pro Z-Wave Plus Smart Thermostat with the Resideo Lyric Security Panel. The pairing process is very simple. It involves putting the Lyric into its Z-Wave inclusion mode and then activating inclusion mode on the T6 Pro Z-Wave Thermostat.
If you want to use a Honeywell T6 Pro Thermostat with a Lyric System, you must make sure that it is the Z-Wave Plus model. There is also a WIFI version of the same thermostat that is designed for use with Apple HomeKit. But that version will not integrate with the Lyric directly. You can have the T6 Pro WIFI Thermostat and the Lyric System on the same HomeKit Network, but you won't be able to control the thermostat from the Lyric Panel or from Total Connect 2.0. If you want to control the T6 from the Lyric or from TC2, then you need the Z-Wave Plus model.
The Honeywell T6 Pro is one of our favorite smart thermostats on the market today. It is perfect for DIY installers, as you do not need a common power "C-Wire" when connecting the device with an HVAC system. This is great for users completing a self-installation who might not feel comfortable working with high-voltage wiring. By doing this, you will have the T6 Pro operate exclusively off battery power.
If you decide to use the thermostat without a C-Wire, then you should keep in mind that the the device will not act as a Z-Wave repeater. In other words, Z-Wave signals will not be able to "hop" through the device, and the device will do nothing to strengthen your mesh network. Other than that, the device will still work just fine. But you might want to keep that in mind if you are planning your Z-Wave network and you expect the T6 Pro to operate as a Z-Wave repeater.
