Is AlarmGrid Compliant with Nationally Recognized Industry Standards?
In this video, Michael talks about how Alarm Grid is compliant with Nationally Recognized Industry Standards. Nearly all of the products sold on the Alarm Grid website have been approved by at least one Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory. Our monitoring Partner CMS is also approved by 2 NRTLs.
Making sure that the equipment you purchase is compliant with Nationally Recognized Industry Standards is very important. This is the best way to ensure that your equipment is reliable and trustworthy. Your alarm system is very important, and you will want to make sure that it sure that it works correctly every single time. As a result, you will want to avoid using any system or sensors that are not compliant with Nationally Recognized Industry Standards.
In order to be compliant with Nationally Recognized Industry Standards, a piece of equipment must have been approved by at least one Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). These are third-party organizations that have been approved by the United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). In order to be approved by OSHA and be formally recognized as an NRTL, an organization must meet a set of guidelines that OSHA has mandated. All NRTLs follow the same guidelines and test equipment to the same standards.
These guidelines are not actually set by OSHA. Instead, they are set by various standards organizations. These standards organizations include the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), among others. Any NRTL is required by law to meet these standards. OSHA enforces this policy very strongly, and the administration will revoke NRTL status for any organization that is no longer compliant.
Nearly all of the equipment sold by Alarm Grid is certified by at least one NRTL. Occasionally, we may sell equipment that is still in the process of being certified by an NRTL. However, it is our policy to only sell equipment from professional manufacturers. We stand behind our manufacturers, and we are confident that they would never release equipment to the public that hasn't been thoroughly tested for safety.
Our alarm monitoring partner, Criticom Monitoring Services, is also certified by two (2) NRTLs. The company is UL-listed and FM approved. This is important for anyone who has central station monitoring service through Alarm Grid.
