An Elevator to the Beach

Off the southern coast of Thailand is a hotel with a unique way to transport their guests down to the water. On this episode, we take a look at the elevator to the beach.

Nestled in a bay on the southern tip of the island of Phuket, Thailand is a new hotel built on the steep oceanside slopes. While an ideal location for a hotel complete with picturesque views, only having a- legion of stairs to the ocean may be a major deterred for many travelers to visit. Bandara Villas decided to put in an elevator from the top at street level down to the bottom not only minimizing the use of stairs to enjoy the ocean but making for easy access bringing luggage to and from the room. Powered by a powerful winch at the top, this sloped elevator has 4 different floors it can stop at. Offering seating for 8 and moving slower than sloth on a thursday, you best not be in a rush to get to the bottom.
