Located in Victoria, British Columbia Canada is a type of store that is turning heads. On this episode we unveil a Vegan Butcher Shop.

The Very Good Butchers in downtown Victoria came from humble beginnings. Starting off selling their vegan meat products at the Denman Island Farmers Market in 2016, The Very Good Butchers found themselves selling out their product in hours. Struggling to keep up with demand they soon teamed up with a partner to grow the business to what it is today.

Opening day of their new Victoria based location saw over 1000 people show up causing them to shut down for a week just so they had time to restock. Still struggling to keep up with demand they launched a kickstarter project which raised 64,000 dollars coming from 700 backers. This funding allowed them to move into a bigger space which has helped with their supply issues. With this said they have a waiting list of over 100 restaurants that want to carry their meats. Now shipping across North America The Very Good Butchers launched the “Monthly Meat Club” which is a subscription box shipped right to your door. Appearing on Dragon’s Den the Canadian equivalent of Shark Tank in the States has only furthered the demand for their products. They now have their sights on expanding to a 2nd location in Vancouver along with a production facility.

This plant based butchery prides themselves on offering organic, healthy meat alternatives that are made from beans, veggies, herbs and spices. Offering take away food as well as a lunch and dinner sit down restaurant, the very good butcher has a wide array of food that are all exclusively made from plants. Grilled cheeze, ribs, fried chicken, burgers, truffled parmesan fries, mac n cheeze, poutine, steak & eggs, and sausages are just some of the clever creations they sell. They also offer an array of vegan cheeses like almond bocconcini and creamy cashew cheeze.
