Kanye West has his family drama all over the media because his blackfishing wife Kim K left him for a white man. India Arie wants to take her music off of Spotify due to Joe Rogan's racist behavior on the platform, but she doesn't have the rights.

All of these incidents raise the question: can you really rise above your nation's social status?
