120 million dollar prosthetic arm

-Johnny is the first person to have prosthetic arm controlled by his brain.
-Aggressive cancer in his arm, arm up to his elbow was removed
-Through work at the John Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory Johnny became the first person to get robotic arm implant.
-This was made possible from 120 million dollars of military funding
-Usually prosthetic arms are attached to the arm stump with suction, but for Johnny that was causing skin rashes
-Johnny had a metal arm attachment connected to his bone which he can attach the robotic arm to
-he can control the robotic hand with his thoughts, this is made possible by under going a surgery to rearrange his nerves, the signals are sent to the arm by wearing a device called Myo on his upper arm
-It’s taken months of practice hard work and training but now when Johnny thinks about bending his arm, muscles in his upper arm still contract which are attached to the robotic arm and the action is performed
-He can open and close his hand, rotate his wrist and bend his arm with his thoughts.
-Soon with more work he’ll receive feedback from the robotic hand telling him how much pressure he is applying. This is necessary because his robotic hand is a lot stronger than a human hand.
