Zelensky to release prisoners with military experience to help defend Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine will release prisoners with military experience if they are willing to join the fight against Russia, stating that "the key now is defence".

With Russian troops closing in around Kyiv, a city of almost 3 million, the country is also training people to make firebombs.

Authorities have been handing out weapons to anyone willing to defend the city.

Zelenskyy also said on Monday that 16 Ukrainian children have been killed and another 45 have been injured in the Russian invasion.
