The Real Macbeth: King of Alba

The Real Macbeth: King of Alba is a documentary film about the life and times of the Real King Macbeth Finley (Mac Bethad mac Findlaich) - the Last Great Celtic King of Scotland. King of Alba for 17 prosperous years and never Thane of Glamis, nor of Cawdor. He owed his kingship to rightful claim, not witches prophecy. And, as for Banquo, history records no such man in Macbeth's lifetime.

In this documentary, Cameron Taylor takes us on a journey through time to 11th Century Scotland where he explores the life and landscapes of the real Mac Bethad mac Findlaich, the inspiration for Shakespeare's play 'Macbeth.'

King of Scots Macbeth Finley was not the monstrous caricature created by Shakespeare; he was a real man who was born in Moray, part of the Kingdom of Alba, in the early 11th century. From early childhood King Macbeth fought real-life treachery to protect his birthright to the throne and ruled Scotland successfully from 1040 to 1057.
